Performing as a Pianist in Cornwall
Cornwall is a beautiful county and I always enjoy my work as a pianist in this wonderful area. Furthermore, the county has a vast array of venues, making it an ideal area for weddings and other events. These venues range from historic buildings to modern luxury hotels.
From a Solo Pianist to a Jazz Band
A lot of my work in Cornwall is as a solo pianist, although I can and do provide larger line-ups. The line-ups I offer range from right duos right up to a five-piece jazz band. The full range of line ups is as follows:
- Duo – piano and vocals or piano and bass
- Trio – piano, bass and vocals or piano, bass and drums
- Quartet – piano, bass, drums and vocals or piano, bass, drums and sax
- Five Piece Jazz Band – piano, bass, drums, sax and vocals

The Music
I love jazz and my piano style has developed through listening to the great jazz pianists of the past. These jazz pianists include Oscar Peterson, Erroll Garner, and George Shearing. Cornwall has given me plenty of opportunities to perform as a jazz pianist, which is something I am very grateful for.
Besides jazz, I enjoy playing other styles of music. This comes into its own when I am hired as a wedding pianist. It isn’t uncommon for couples to request different genres of music for each part of their wedding day. These styles include pop, rock, Latin, classical, blues, and even singalong.
The trend for hiring me as a singalong pianist in Cornwall has been a recent one and has become something I love. This type of work is usually for Cockney themed events such as ‘pie and mash’ evenings. Although, I am sometimes hired to do singalongs for more formal events such as weddings.
